Nagele is a polder village on new land and was designed by famous architects like Gerrit Rietveld and Aldo van Eijck. The village was build in 1956. The original villagers of Nagele were selected by a government department that managed the organisation and administration of a young polder in the Netherlands down to the tiniest detail. It was not just a design experiment, but a social experiment too.
By the mid-1980s Nagele looked most like a well preserved piece of the 1950s. Revolutionary urban design, landscape design and architecture had not necessarily led to a revolutionary society. Nagele was a conservative, smoothly running community.

Nagele N.O.P. was published in 1988.
